MIAMI, Fla. — World 100-metres bronze medallist Carmelita Jeter will attempt to break the world record for the 60m dash during the indoor season next year, her agent told World-Track on Wednesday.

Mark Block said the American who at the IAAF World Athletics Final in Thessaloniki, became the third fastest woman over the 100m after blasting to a jaw-dropping 10.67 seconds, the third fastest of all time and the fastest 100m performance in over a decade, is planning a full indoor season that will also include the World Indoor Championships in Doha in March.

“Carmelita is planning a full indoor season,” Block said on Wednesday. “[She] plans to make her best attempt at the World Record for 60m and trying to capture her first World
title at the World Indoor Championships.”

Block added that there are no specific meetings on the radar just yet, but confirms that they are a lot of possibilities for her to race in the United States and in Europe.

“She has not set any specific meets yet, but we are in talks with several promoters in the US and Europe,” he said.

“Her schedule will be set according to what she and her coach feel are the best meets to set her up to achieve her goals.”

In the 2009 season, Jeter improved her personal best to 7.11secs, but is clear a hot favourite to better that performance in addition to posting a strong challenge on Russian Irina Privalova’s long-standing 6.92secs world record.
